Ultramodern Museumkwartier car park in The Hague opens its doors

The Hague, December 23 2016 – CEO from Interparking Netherlands Johan Tol, chairman of the Board of Directors at Dura Vermeer Job Dura, managing partner at SENS real estate Gerad Schoenaker and alderman Boudewijn Revis officially opened the ultramodern car park Museumkwartier in The Hague. After the official opening, the underground car park in the city center of The Hague immidiately opened for the public. Reinstating the ancient function of Tournooiveld, making the garage the gateway to the city of The Hague.

Responsible alderman Boudewijn Revis: “We want to make the city center as attractive as possible for resident and visitors of The Hague. Accessibility and an attractive outdoor area are important features. That is why the outdoor area surrounding the Museumkwartier car park is being refurbished.
With the opening of the garage a long-held wish of entrepreneurs, owners, residents and cultural institutions in the area is met. The parking demand of the surrounding area is met with 320 parking spaces distributed over 3 underground levels. In the recent years SENS real estate and Dura Vermeer have developed the plan as a development joint venture, which was supported by approximately 25 cultural institutions, owners, residents and business owners. The design of the car park is the result of a fruitful collaboration between these stakeholders, the municipality of The Hague, the architect, developer, builder and owner.

Car park that meets international allure

Many museums and cultural institutions are housed around the Hofvijver, the Binnenhof and the Lange Voorhout.The municipality will identify this part as a museum quarter, with the aim of developing an international charm and allure. To comply with this international allure the car park provides a variety of luxurious facilities. From the high quality pedestrian pavilions the parkers walk straight into the Lange Voorhout, the Denneweg and the Binnenhof. The pavilions are designed to blend into the historic environment and are completely enveloped in glass. Contacless payment at the exits makes the entry and exit of the car park much easier. Drivers of electric cars can charge their car at any of the eight electric charging points. In addition, the garage is equipped with seven disabled spaces and toilets.

Customer and environmentally friendly car park

The car park is finished to the highest standard and is equipped with the latest technology. A parking guidance system – which guides the parker via the shortest route to a free parking space, floor coating, LED lighting and licence plate recognition. Just like in the Markthal car park Eco-Parking will be applied, meaning that parkers with an energy label A or a fully electric car, park with a discount.
From mid-January it will be possible to make reservations through the website parkereninmuseumkwartier.nl. With the advantage that visitors can book from home or on the road and immidiately pay for their space. This means that the visitor can drive in quicker through license plate recognition or a QR code from a smartphone and no longer needs to visit the ticket machine. The products that can be booked online correspond to the
environment. So parkers who visit the Royal Theatre or one of the museums can book Theater or Museum Parking.

Open 24/7

Whether the parker enjoys a cultural day out and visits the Mauritshuis, stays in Hotel des Indes, visits the Royal Theater or the city center for a shopping session, anyone can park in the Museumkwartier car park. The entrance to the garage is right next to the American Embassy at the Korte Voorhout and is easily accessible via the access roads towards the center of The Hague.
