Brussels, 18 September 2025
SIS, a subsidiary of the Interparking Group, awarded by the European Parking Association for the best on-street parking project
At the European Parking Association (EPA) Congress held on 17 September 2025 in Brussels, SIS received the "Best European On-street Parking Project" award for its innovative initiative implemented in the city of Monopoli, in southern Italy.
Entitled "Smart Parking and Adaptive Recognition in Monopoli", the project demonstrates how a small historic city can deploy an intelligent, inclusive, and sustainable parking system that addresses today’s urban mobility challenges.
The solution introduced in Monopoli is based on an integrated approach combining advanced technologies with user-centered design:
Sensor network for real-time detection of available spaces
Dynamic signage and Muvin digital platform
Differentiated pricing based on zones and seasons
Fleet of electric scooters for automated enforcement
Centralized data management for efficient supervision
The results speak for themselves:
75% digital adoption for subscription management
Reduced search traffic and improved quality of life in the historic center
This award recognizes a balanced approach between technological innovation, accessibility for all users, economic performance, and environmental responsibility.
SIS and the city of Monopoli show that innovation in urban parking is not limited to large metropolitan areas. It can thrive in historic European centers, blending heritage preservation with modernity.
